MIFFL Seeking Director of Captains, Field & Equipment
The Michigan Inclusive Flag Football League is continuing to grow — and we’re looking for another dedicated leader to help us grow with purpose.
MIFFL is now accepting applications for a new Board position: Director of Captains, Field & Equipment.
This role will play an important part in both the people and operations that make our league successful. From supporting Team Captains and strengthening communication across the league to making sure our fields and equipment are ready each week, the Director of Captains, Field & Equipment will help create the safe, organized, inclusive, and competitive experience our players have come to expect from MIFFL.
Supporting Our Captains
Team Captains are an essential part of the MIFFL experience. They aren’t simply responsible for a roster — they help build team culture, welcome players into our community, promote sportsmanship, develop players, and bring our mission to life on and off the field.
The Director will serve as the primary liaison between MIFFL Team Captains and the Board of Directors, helping recruit, develop, train, and retain strong captains for our Spring and Fall seasons.
Responsibilities will include organizing captain meetings and check-ins, preparing captains for Draft Day, communicating league expectations and procedures, supporting captains with team-level concerns, and ensuring their feedback and needs are represented to the Board.
The Director will also work with the Board to identify future leaders and make recommendations regarding captain selection, retention, development, and replacement when necessary.
Keeping MIFFL Game-Day Ready
Behind every Sunday of MIFFL football is a lot of work that happens before the first whistle.
The Director will help coordinate the fields, permits, equipment, and game-day logistics necessary to keep our league running smoothly.
That includes working with the Board on field permits, overseeing field preparation and setup, coordinating equipment transportation and teardown, maintaining an accurate inventory of league equipment, and identifying supplies that need to be repaired or replaced.
From footballs, flags and cones to field paint, tents, signage and first-aid supplies, this position will help ensure MIFFL has what it needs to provide a consistent and high-quality experience each week.
Helping Build the Future of MIFFL
This isn’t simply a game-day position. We’re looking for someone who wants to help make the league better.
The Director will have opportunities to identify improvements to captain development, field readiness, equipment quality, volunteer involvement, league operations, and the overall player experience.
They will work collaboratively with the Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner, Treasurer, Director of Operations, Director of Travel Teams, fellow Board Members, Team Captains, referees, volunteers, and vendors throughout the year.
The position carries a two-year term and will participate in MIFFL’s Board structure in accordance with the league’s bylaws.
Who Are We Looking For?
The ideal candidate is someone who is organized, dependable, collaborative, and passionate about MIFFL and its community. They should be comfortable communicating with different groups of people, solving problems, taking initiative, and occasionally getting their hands dirty to make sure game day is ready to go.
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who believes in what MIFFL stands for:
